A Glass Steam House

April 27, 2009

glassandglassCousins Philip and Ira Glass will be preforming for a Gala event on Tuesday at St. Ann’s Warehouse in Dumbo Brooklyn!

The other night, I was at the Warehouse for La Didone, presented by The Wooster Group. It was pretty much an operatic version of Invasion Of The Bodysnatchers. The space is not small, but intimate. This should be amazing night but be warned that there is no AC, and summer in NY began 3 days ago after that Spring season we had on Thursday.

A friend of mine appropriately  compared the space to a Turkish Bath House.

“Sometimes I ask Philip what he’s hearing when he plays his own music, and he points out things that I as a non-musician would never notice. It makes me hear his work completely differently. It’s fascinating, and it’s a side of him most people never get to see. We thought it would make for an intimate and special sort of evening to have that conversation onstage, with a piano, at St. Ann’s Warehouse.”
