Chloes List of Impending Disappointment

December 14, 2010

I don’t know about you, but when someone asks me what I want for Christmas, I simply freeze up. All year I think about the things I want as soon as I can afford it, but as soon as December creeps up, I’m at a loss.

Well THIS year, I made a list. Since I’m probably not even worthy of coal, I wanted to call it “Chloes list of impending disappointment”, but I went against myself on the idea.

If you have similar taste to me, perhaps my wish list can help you out!

Every so often I feel the need to jot down things that make me smile and really enjoy life. Its becoming nice to have a little timeline of them growing. I can look back and see how what was cheering me up then, has simply stuck with with me!

Heres a current list of things that I love:

  • The fact that the JFK Jet Blue terminal has a soda fountain! I get to mix as many sugary flavors as I want, hop into my window seat, and see how long I can go without peeing myself.
  • Bees flirt video
  • “I’m enjoying this Punk Rock/Domestic Goddess thing you are working recently.” –Frank
  • Vegetarian Wednesday inspired by this post on Salt and Fat.

  • Frolicking around the financial district with Gala, who after years of friendship, we always seem to find more things we have in common than we thought. Like a mutual loathe for cats and bananas. It was also funny to find out that she calls salad dressing, sauce…..as in salad sauce.
  • Cowboy Steak: steak seasoned with coffee grounds, brown sugar, salt, and pepper
  • Wearing high heels to the grocery store

400 Blows

  • When portraits I’ve taken show up on Facebook in a row, like so.
  • Challenging myself to wear a dress for everyday of May.
  • Drawing a monster a day in my sketch book.
  • Sewing custom dolls for full-grown kids.

  • Adorably dressed children, like Brixton (above)
  • Making my bed first thing, every morning. Its such a little thing that makes such a big difference when you walk into a room.
  • Finding out little household hits. Like, the water from boiled eggs contains minerals that can be beneficial for your plants. Or that a candle could be helpful while sewing.
  • Spending weekends traveling, to be completely out of my element.

  • Cat eye glasses from Cutler and Gross.
  • Crafting for a full on care package project with Bea!
  • Finally getting paid for these photos to document that I’ve sold out bought in.
  • Those animal crackers that are drowned in pink and white icing.
  • Waking up and reading a book in a hoodie and under-roos, from the balcony of my new bedroom.

Rainin’ Blood

April 27, 2010

During the past couple of gloomy days, I stayed cooped up, listened to one of my favorite metal albums (Reign in Blood by Slayer), and got crafty!

Some results of my metal induced furry are for sale on my Etsy shop, I Felt That.

Post Specials Show self portrait

Can I share a moment, here? ok thanks.

The Specials was my palate band. Ya know…that band where you realize that you actually like a type of music and not just what you hear on the radio.

I was maybe 10 or 11 years old. While on the way to the mall, I saw the cassette laying by my feet in the back of a friends moms car. I liked the simplicity of the art work and asked if we could put it in.  I didn’t know anything about what I was hearing other than it had somehow instantly made me happier than ice cream and creepy crawlers ever could again. All I could seem to do was kind of let tears seep from my eyes and occasionally kick my feet with joy. I didn’t want that car ride to end because nothing could make me as happy as hearing that music for the first time just had.

What was your palate band? (I love knowing these little things about people!)

While some of my friends were on a munchie hunt on 4/20, my friend Smo and I went to see the Specials!

It was amazing to see a slew of men over 50 years old with more energy than I’ve had since I first heard their music. I had spent so many years just knowing I would probably never get the chance to see them though, that nothing about the show wasn’t amazing for me.

When we left and I came to, I realized a few things:

  • my jacket got a beating
  • my Chucks are destroyed
  • my mouth was bleeding
  • I’d lost my voice
  • ……….I may have “skanked”

I regret nothing, except for not trying to weasel my way back in for day two of the show.

But my single regret won’t hold for long, because I was reminded that I will soon be heading back for their FREE show in Central Park on August 22nd!

Check out some impressive photos from the show: here.

and this kind of odd video someone put together: here.

All My Friends Are Gay.

April 12, 2010

I feel like my friends are all so amazing, creative, and funny that its a shame to not have a damn good photo of each and every one of them in my life. Here, I’ve taken a collection of shots from the people I have spent some quality time with in the past month and linked them together. Although aesthetically pleasing, the solid colored walls probably create a very impersonal photograph to you. For me though, I can remember every situation in which I ended up conveniently place near each saturated setting. What we laughed about, what the weather was like, what we ate, ect.

This series a little bookmark to remember my adventures of the month. I hope to continue it, through out the next couple of months. Eventually having a place to display them all at their proper size.

My Broken Cubical

April 2, 2010

I had recently recovered a hard drive full of music that I haven’t heard since high school, made myself a girly Ska mix, and spent all of yesterday partaking in my favorite spring time activity. SPRING CLEANING!

My non-cubicle was my favorite and most improved area.

Feel free to step into my office: (more…)

Drawn In (107/365)

March 17, 2010

Funny story. Krysti was taking the train to midtown with me with the intention to walk around while I went to shoot Molly Crabapple and her Dr. Sketchy’s Anti Art School. Unfortunately, Krysti fell from a pole on the train and nearly broke her leg….(that was the funny part) Leaving her to doodle in a conference room at the MOMA for several hours. I was pleased to find that at the end of the day, I made it into a few sketches. Its all about the adventure ears, I wore that day.

Brain Shades (96/365)

March 6, 2010

When I moved in to my apartment, I was told that the building across the street was abandoned. With this knowledge, I procrastinated putting up shades for a few months and frolicked around my room as naked as a flower child, knee deep in acid, at Woodstock. This was fine and dandy up until the day I looked out my window to see several workers peaking their heads out of cracked windows of the NOT SO abandoned building.

Next day, I had my curtins hung but they weren’t long enough to cover all my window space. So I punched some holes in my MRI’s, attached them to each other with fishing wire, and hung them from the ceiling.

Now those dirty ole’ worker have no choice but to see me for my brains and not my tits.

Hoop you have a good weekend

February 26, 2010

My friend came back from Los Angeles, last night, with TWO POUNDS of Black Cat Espresso beans!

Its like a coke dealer going straight from Columbia to a bar on the Lower East side on Thursday night, over here.

I’ve got so much energy that I’ve decided to show that I can hula hoop for an entire Charles Bronson song without messing up!…well almost.

Ying Yang (80/365)

a self portrait from today

I recently took a look back at old journals and sketch books from when I was 15 and these seem to be the things that have never changed and that hopefully never will:

  1. My favorite food is tako. Japanese for octopus.
  2. My favorite action is peeling things. Anything from oranges to glue off my hands.
  3. My favorite smell is a tie between Windex, sulfur, and  Gardenias (which has been bottled up and sold as a spray).
  4. My favorite color is white. It makes me think of a blank canvas or a clean room.
  5. The best album ever is the Shape of Punk to Come by Refused. Its not even my opinion. Its just a fact.

What are your favorites? Perhaps you’ll change my mind…

Fun With Medical Tape

January 28, 2010

I was so full of pancakes and love the other day. I’m glad Bee was able to capture it.

I’ve had an increasingly difficult time breathing, over the week. My friend finally forced me to the doctor who informed me that I had been walking around with three fractured ribs all week. I’m no genius but I would go ahead and say it happened right about the time I took this photo, while working a show:

I’m not taking pain killers for it. I figure if I walked around this long with the problem, I could tough it out. Although what I lack pain killers I make up for in things I should strap and wrap to my chest to keep my ribs from malunion. One being a nude colored tape. Yesterday, I tried to wrangle my boobs into this tape, to see what life would be like if I was a little more like Ken than Barbie.

It was a task that got boring pretty quickly for me, but I think I found out my pups new favorite game!

all this rib talk sure makes a girl hungry. mmmmmmmmmm riiiiiiiiiiiiibs
